very easy to use and all of the options are great. the MSN service is definitely a great addition too, since it has traffic, local gas and weather updates. mine was refurbished which made it a lot cheaper, but also meant that I had to call the Garmin helpline directly in order to get it registered. It also means that I don't have the most recent map update, but so far that hasn't been an issue for me.
This is my second GPS and very pleased with the unit, with the exception that some addresses will not come up in the unit, including my home. Some obvious locations should be in the unit and aren't and vice versa. It is very easy to use and I love the handsfree phone feature. Overall, I would recommend this to all of my friends.
Using this product for about a month now.The Good:Nice screenrefurbished are as good as newvery good speaker, bluetooth works very wellrouting algorithm is very good (garmin is the best)Mount is good with power on the mount so it really is a quick releaseA very good value for the priceMSN good for a whole year rather than just 3 months (also no adds)Comes complete with a travel case and a home charger. The not so goodBasemap is US so even if you get euro maps, when zoomed out you will have problems overseas. If you plan to buy the European maps change the basemap before you go (perhaps they include one with the City Navigator Europe software. It works well and you wont have to worry about your GPS falling off your windshield. My 885T has a nice one with elevation shading (note you can hack a world wide basemap into the unit but it will not show shading)Garmin did not clear out the previous activation data from their database so getting it registered and updated to the newest map required a lengthy call to tech support. These units do not have lane assist, the turn preview icon or speed limit display like the newer models. So it is not tempting to steal. Lane assist is very useful.Accuracy of MSN data. Really Garmin put a decent world wide basemap on these things. I recommend getting the genuine garmin bean bag friction mount.
MSN traffic data is not updated often enough, (could be similar to the other system this area I don't know) MSN coverage is restricted to only very large metro areas. If you don't need lane assist this GPS especially a refurbished one is a good buy. It routes well and is a very good speaker phone. I toss the mount under my seat when I park and put the GPS in its case. If I leave the car on the street I take the gps in its case with me.
Long waits and lack of courtsey. Although refurb, I could not find anything that would make it something lesser than a new unit. GOOD:Its a great GPS Unit. They don't upgrade the maps for refurb units I think and new ones also have a time limit for upgrades. I like the voice prompting and Bluetooh integration.Combined with MSN Direct service this GPS has saved me many hours by routing to avoid traffic, construction and accidents.BAD:FM integration is not that great. UGLY: Garmin Customer support is worse than you can imagine. The unit packing does not say anything like ACT NOW to get new maps. and then you will get into long waits or email exchanges with Garmin Support (or lack of it)
JUST LIKE ALL THE RECENT NUVI GARMIN PRODUCTS THIS ONE THINKS JUST LIKE YOU DO. EASY TO USE, WORKS LIKE A CHARM, PRICED RIGHT
